A "Flip-Flop" Birthday

Our little Alexa turned 8 on May 27th. She is growing up way to fast. We had a little family get together for some delicious "flip-flop" cake and ice cream.

A box of Triscuits? Gifts from Aunt Kibbie usually come in some kind of cracker box. It ended up being a really cute little outfit.
8 Fun Facts About Alexa
1. Alexa would love to be a veternarian when she grows up because she loves animals.
2. If Alexa could eat anything, it would be an apple. She loves apples.
3. Alexa admires her dad the most. She wants to be good runner someday, just like her dad.
4. Alexa loves to draw and design clothes.
5. Alexa's favorite color is blue (hence the blue flip-flop cake).
6. Alexa received a 100% on every spelling test this year and trust me, her spelling words were not easy.
7. Alexa's favorite vegetable is broccoli.
8. Alexa loves to dance and perform. She loves to go to plays. I think that we have been to every High School play for that last 5 years and some of them we have seen twice.
Alexa is such an amazing little girl. She is always striving to do her very best at everything she does. She loves to learn and continues to amazes us with how well she does in school. We are so blessed to have Alexa in our family. Happy 8th Birthday!! We love you, Alexa!!! Thank you for being YOU!

Smiley Guy!!

We have smiles!!! Jaxson has been smiling for a couple of weeks now and I love it! It has been a lot of work to get a smile out of this kid. He would only smile at me for a little while, which I really didn't mind. He loves his mama! His best smiles appear when he just wakes up or when you call him a handsome little boy! I love my little guy!

Exciting things coming up...

June 5th is the day that Alexa has chosen to be baptized. She is really excited and can hardly wait to wear her beautiful white dress.

While all of the family is here, we have also decided to bless Jaxson. It should be a really special day for our family.

What's Alexa been up to???

May has been a crazy month. Alexa has had a million things going on and she couldn't be happier about it. From the PTO Fun Run to the Bike Rodeo she loves it all. Here are a few pictures of what Alexa's been up to lately.

Alexa loves to run...hmmm...is she really my child? She did great this year at the PTO Fun Run. She ran 18 laps which is just a little over 2 miles. The kids run laps around a little track and raise money for various things. This year the money raised will go to help cover the costs of field trips next year. I think they raised a little over $12,000 this year. It is fun to watch and I think the kids really enjoy themselves even when there is snow on the ground.

Aunt Carrie waiting to give Alexa a "high-five" for her awesome efforts!

Some of Alexa's friends...Cooper Evans, Cedar Hopkins, Mrs. Batterton, and Jorie Ann Balls.

Some more friends...Kaleb Petersen and Laramie Smith.

Avery, Kendall, and Kira getting ready to cheer on the runners!

Alexa was also able to participate in the 2nd Grade Bike Rodeo. She had to have some way to get the bike home so I let her ride it home. This is the first time she has rode her bike home from school. It makes me a little nervous. So, I was one of "those mom's" who follows their kid home from school and takes a bunch of pictures.

She did great so I think that I may have to relax a little and let her ride her bike to school more often.

Alexa took 2nd place in the Monsanto Safety Poster Contest this year. She won $10 and was happy as could be! Her safety message this year..."Don't go under the trampoline when someone is on it!"

Sue's Dance Recital 2010

The girls had their Dance Recital on May 15th. Our girls LOVE to dance and they love Miss Sue!! I love seeing how much they progress from year to year. They both are amazing little dancers that sparkle on stage!

Great job, Alexa and Avery!!

Avery Graduates!!

On May 20th, Avery graduated from Mrs. Burnham's Preschool. I cannot believe how much she has grown in the last two years. I think we are raising a "mini" teenager. She did really well this year and even with her surgery and all of the school she missed she was able to catch up and even pass some of the other kids. Avery is able to read 20 plus books. Jeff and I are so proud of her. She is a very smart little girl.

Avery before her program started.

We always have to have a funny face picture only this picture seems to be a scary face picture.

Our little kids...I can't believe we have three.

Avery with all of her wonderful teachers. From left to right: Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Liechty, Mrs. Vranes, and Mrs. Burnham. They a really amazing ladies who love the little kids.

Avery with her best buddy, Kendall. These two girls together is a real treat!

Cute little graduation hat...

When the children graduate, Mrs. Burnham presents each child with a special award. Avery was awarded "Little Miss Cheerleader" because she was caught doing some sort of cheer in class and Mrs. Burnham claims that Avery is good at cheering. I don't disagree with that but "cheerleader" is a swear word in the Horsley home. It made Jeff and I laugh. She does love to cheer and is always coming up with some new cheer to show us. So, someday we may have a cheerleader in our home.

Congratulations, Avery!!! We are so proud of all of your accomplishments! We love YOU!

Mom and Sydnie's Birthday Party

On May 16th, we had a little family BBQ to celebrate my Mom's birthday on the 15th and Sydnie's birthday on the 25th. We had a delicious dinner complete with cabbage, instead of lettuce, to put on our hamburgers. (A little family joke!) We all had a great time visiting and enjoying some good food and CAKE!

Mom and Sydnie blowing out their candles...Sydnie had five to blow out and my Mom only had one...her cake was 54 short.

Papa Galen playing with KaCey.

Grandma Georgia loving little Jaxson. He slept during the entire party.

Remie enjoying the sunshine in the BIG chair.

Jeff and Courtney enjoying some serious competition of Croquet.

I must say, I am not very good at anything athletic and I could really care less who wins or loses. But, I didn't mind showing off my Croquet skills. I think I took 3rd place out of the four of us.

Papa Galen and Papa Burke taking a ride in the Razor.

Jeff was exhausted after his big game of Croquet. Notice his thumb is still on the remote. He may have some kind of T.V. addiction.
Happy ???? Birthday, Mom and Happy 5th Birthday Sydnie!!
